“POETS & CRITICS at PARIS EST 2011-2013”, is a three-year research project on experimental literary criticism funded by Université Paris Est Marne-la-Vallée. Its aim is to provide a meeting ground for creative and critical discourses and to engage with new modes of writing criticism, in particular "practice-based criticism”. This is a form of critical writing that positions itself as a creative practice.

The project is based on two-day symposia at which English-language writers and academics from Europe and the United States discuss the work of an invited poet and explore with him/her the connections and disjunctions between criticism and literature. There will be three symposia each year. Nine writers will visit Université Paris Est from 2011 to 2013. The project will conclude with an international conference in 2014.

« POETS & CRITICS at PARIS EST 2011-2013 », programme de recherche de trois ans financé par l’Université de Paris Est Marne-la-Vallée, est un projet de critique littéraire expérimentale. Il cherche à explorer les modes d’écriture critique mis en œuvre par les auteurs expérimentaux, notamment le « practice-based criticism », discours qui se veut à la fois réflexion théorique et pratique de création.

Le programme repose sur des séminaires de deux jours pendant lesquels dialoguent écrivains et universitaires venus d’Europe et des États-Unis. Lors d’une première séance, la discussion s’engagera autour du travail d’un/e poète invité/e et du rapport qu’il ou elle entretient avec la critique. Ces liens plus ou moins disjonctifs seront précisés lors d’une seconde séance plus large, portant sur les modes du discours critique. En faisant jouer les rapports dynamiques entre écriture critique et écriture de création, il s’agira aussi d'interroger les liens de l’université à la littérature, certains invités étant à la fois universitaires et poètes.

Il y aura trois séminaires par an à l’Université Paris Est, le programme se terminera par un colloque international en 2014.
