We are looking forward to Vanessa Place's visit for a 2 day symposium on her work, on writing & criticism. Bibliographic information with a summer reading list at the end of this post.

Thurs. Sept. 29, 10am-12:30pm: preparatory session & discussion with all colleagues involved.
Thurs. Sept. 29, 2:30pm-6pm: introductory talk by Vanessa Place & subsequent conversation about her work.
Fri. Sept. 30, 10am-12:30pm : "thinkership" & "writership" (1). Discussion with Vanessa Place about the theory and practice of writing; bridging the crit./lit. divide?
Fri. Sept. 30, 2:30pm-5pm : "thinkership" & "writership" (2) and conclusion of the 2 day symposium.


On Friday September 30th, 7pm, Vanessa Place and Emilie Notéris will give a reading for the Double Change reading series at the Point Ephémère, in Paris.

EMILIE NOTERIS est historiquement incarnée dans un corps de femme blanche française, radicale, de classe moyenne, exerçant le métier d’écrivaine. 

Elle développe dans ses projets littéraires une langue multiple imbriquant une stylistique nourrie de vocabulaires spécifiques et techniques. Elle opère un changement d’axe pour chaque projet qu’elle se saisisse de la théorie féministe, des utopies révolutionnaires, de l’écologie politique, de la critique sociale sous-jacente aux films de dark urban fantasy...

Elle est l’auteur de Cosmic Trip (IMHO, collection Et Hop, 2008) et a co-dirigé J.G. Ballard, Hautes Altitudes avec Jérôme Schmidt (è®e, 2008). Elle a écrit un essai sur le Fétichisme postmoderne (La Musardine, collection l’attrape corps, 2010) et a dirigé l’ouvrage Alim. pour les éditions IMHO (septembre 2010). Elle vient de publier Sequoiadrome aux éditions joca seria. Elle est membre de la revue TINA et dirige la collection littérature étrange®e. Elle a effectué une résidence d’écrivain à l’espace Khiasma en 2010 (mars-septembre) sur la thématique du locavorisme. Son travail est paru dans les revues américaines : Sleepingfish, Everyday Geniuset Black Warrior Review et françaises Mouvements, Étapes, TINAet Cyclocosmia ainsi que dans le site virtuel du Jeu de Paume.

Elle vit à Los Angeles et co-dirige la maison d’édition indépendante Les Figues Press. 

Elle collabore régulièrement au magazine d’art X-TRA CONTEMPORARY ART QUARTERLY de Los Angeles. 

Elle a publié une dizaine d’ouvrages.
